The clients, both visual artists, requested assistance with the refurbishment of a collapsing brick garage.
Our response was to remediate the brick and to insert a tempered timber volume. A variety of openings frame the exterior and fill the studio with summer and winter light.
The unique siting of the garage adjacent to the street invited the building to participate in the life of the street; the buildings south façade and green roof face out to neighbours and passers-by.
